When I came to Costa Rica, I was merely looking for a place to stay. What I found was so much more! I arrived and at once I had a family and friends in the country, which really felt like home to me. I could go on writing about how good it is to meet people from the country, to be immersed in speaking spanish, to taste the wonderful costa rican cuisine, to see what daily life really is like, and repeat again how absolutely breathtakingly beautiful Costa Rica is -- but you probably know all that. Let me, instead, say that the difference is in the people. In having a family that really cares, that makes you feel you are not a paying visitor, but a family member. Who will take you to weekend trips, family parties or any other special adventure not as a tourist attraction, but because you're part of the family -- if you want to take part. If you come home late, the light will be on for you, and if you feel sad, there is someone there for you. They'll always be part of my family for me.

Location
We are located in the capital city of San José, and we operate within the well-known Montes de Oca municipality bordering the central city limits. Our location is "residential" with quick access to big city life. Montes de Oca is home to the University of Costa Rica and many other universities - and some of San José's best shopping, restaurants, and upscale night-life! We are only a 20 minute taxi ride from the Juan Santamaría International Airport.
Experience
At the CRHP, our host families and program directors come from many different areas of Costa Rica's tourism, business, and education sectors. Our professors come from well-known universities right here in the capital city. Combined, our staff has countless years of experience in the industry - hosting tourists, offering Spanish instruction, and organizing unforgettable vacations for the country's visitors.
Simply put, we are able to offer an authentic Costa Rican travel experience that foreign-owned and operated organizations cannot. This program was designed by people who were born & raised in this amazing country!
About 10 years ago, we started as a small word-of-mouth network and have relied on positive student experiences and foreign friends to advance plans for the CRHP program. We hope to serve you as we continue to expand our program.
